Colors on Campus: Washington University in St. Louis

Well, school has started up again and I'm back into the swing of stressful homework and tough track practices. I've been a little preoccupied lately with student body elections, AP Exams, intense workouts, violin practice, and other miscellaneous activities, so I apologize for being MIA the past week. Right now I'm just dreaming of relatively carefree, warm, beautiful summer. Ahhh...

I took a couple minutes to take a few quick outfit shots while I was on the lovely campus of WashU in St. Louis during spring break. I had scheduled an interview, so I wanted to look a little more dressy but still be comfortable enough to walk around all day on campus. This awesome skater dress was the first thing that came to mind. It was the perfect staple buy at Forever 21—I can wear it while I’m performing on the violin with some dressier flats or keep it casual enough for school. It’s funny—the things I wear the most are usually solid color staple pieces rather than my more elaborately patterned ones. I guess it’s just because the simple pieces are so versatile and I get to dress them however I want!

We did a little sightseeing too--though, I did think that the arch was a little disappointing. We couldn't go up since the tickets were sold out and I've always felt that memorials were overrated. I did get a chance to run in the beautiful Forest Park though--now that was really something.

I got a weird feeling as I left the school. This was my first official college visit, and as we drove away, I wondered if it would be the last time I would be there, or if I would be back for another four years. It's really strange.
I thought WashU was a good fit for me, since I don't know what I want to do and it seemed pretty flexible there. And lots of tests have told me that I should work with people and ideas, so good careers would be doctor, teacher, performer, ect. I've heard many good things about WashU's premed program, so that's another plus. I fell in love with the campus right away--by the end of the day, I even knew my way around! And you can tell so much just from observing the people--when we had just arrived, a student asked if we would like her to take a picture of our family at the entrance. Bonus points for friendly students!
HUGE shout out to Angie of Pandaphilia--I remembered that she had gone to WashU from reading her blog and she offered me some good tips and advice for my visit. I visited the Whispers Cafe at Olin library and the South 40, per her advice (: It's kinda cool when the blog world meets the real world, don't you think?

Have a lovely weekend!

  1. these photos make my heart beat with such nostalgia! i'm glad you visited a lot of my favourite architectural features on campus and had a good time. i think one thing that's very underrated at washu is our humanities program - they really take care of their students and made me feel at home though i was a science major too.

  5. Liiiiily! This dress is stunning. The color is way bright and awesome, and I just love it with your yellow cardigan. You're just a slice of sunshine.

College visits can be kind of weird. Sometimes, they don't always feel right, and sometimes, you just don't know. I really am one to believe it's what you make of it--I started at the college where I am afraid that I wouldn't get to know my teachers since it's so huge, but the art department here is such a tiny place and I almost know the entire faculty now. I think wherever you decide, Lily, you'll end up loving. Good luck!

Have an excellent weekend, my darling! <3

Now time to compliment your looks. :) This teal skater dress is very charming. It beams as bright as your sweet smile and cute looks. The yellow cardigan and orange scarf are both equally charming. Wonderful outfit!
