Story of My Life

Acrylic; for book project on Sister Carrie (I highly recommend it) a couple years ago; reference photo.
My violin; will be rehearsing and performing over 25 hours this week for two concerts.
Kung Fu Panda flash drive...need I say more?
I miss summer.
Study buddy--custom candle from Candle Lab.
Decadent, unique chocolates.
How I miss it...if all goes well, I'll be clear to run again later this week!

I had an inkling of thought as I biked purposefully to my neighborhood park, camera bag across my shoulder and newly thrifted oxfords on my feet. Did I forget--?

I brushed it away. No, of course not. I swore I remembered putting it in my camera bag before I left.

At the park, I hopped off my bike, wheeling it to the bike rack. Unzipping my sturdy black camera bag, I pulled out my trusty DSLR. Huh, it felt a little lighter today. The inkling returned, this time accompanied with dread.

I clicked open the battery compartment. My suspicions were confirmed when I found it empty. I stared for a moment, still dazed at my misfortune. Then, I laughed.

The golden afternoon sun warmed my cheeks as the crisp breeze played with my hair. It was too beautiful of a fall day to be upset. Perhaps it wasn't meant to be today. I would shoot this outfit another time.

I inhaled deeply and contently, savoring the beauty of the seemingly-mundane scene one last moment before hopping onto my bike once again and pedaling home.

...

That, friends, explains my lack of outfit photos to post on this lovely three day weekend. It just so happens that whenever it's gorgeous outside, I don't have time to take photos or something goes wrong haha. And when I do have time, it's overcast and unappealing out, like it was today. Sigh. So much for that.

But it does make a nice opportunity for me to post some miscellaneous photography I've been wanting to share for awhile. While most are recent, some of these photos go back to a couple years ago!

It's basically my life in 8 photos (8 also happens to be my favorite number). And the eight photo, below, is the first one from my instragram feed! I joined just a few days ago and would be super excited if you checked it out @imperfectidealist!

Four dollars well spent...this is why I love thrift stores.

Hoping to catch up with your beautiful blogs soon! Thank a veteran and have a lovely week in the meantime!

I need a really cool flash drive, mine is so boring! I love your kung fu panda one, it's so cute!

That's so funny about your camera battery, you remained a lot more calm than I probably would have for that!

  5. I've got to say our life is consist of such simple things and it's all about nuanses and detailes. If we are too blind to see the beauty of tiny things, we will never be able to dream big and appreciate the wonderful world around us. oh, and Kung Fu Panda flash drive is just awesome!!!

  6. I really love the idea of representing yourself through things that you own or ideas that make up the most important aspects of yourself. It's refreshing to see this kind of post!

  7. Oh, Lily, you should never apologize for a lack of outfit posts Honestly, sometimes I wish I could just not post sometimes and not stress out about making a post. Example: last week's post was rushed, and I felt it. I like for my posts to be thought out and carefully done (as I am sure you do, too!).

Well, I'm glad you enjoyed your three day weekend. These photos are such lovely snippets of your life. I hope that the rest of your week is grand!! <3

    love love always, Ali
