Summer Staples: Chevron Maxi and Sun Hat

After moving out of school for the summer, I vowed to be more conscious of my purchases. Packing my wardrobe into boxes made me realize that I have way too many clothes--some of which I rarely wear.

At 35 Chinese yuan (5.21 USD), however, this chevron number would've been too painful to pass up. Following several moments of deliberation, I finally picked it up along with its floral sister. After all, it's not every day you can browse shops it China, and it's not every day you can snag an eye-catching summer staple for $5.21.

As long as I sport this multicolor piece often enough in this warm, liberating season, I'll consider this purchase justified.

  1. $5.21 for that dress is insane! How's the quality of it, though? I'm always weary of buying things from China (TaoBao and AliBaba) for fear of inferior quality though the prices are always such tempters, haha! Loving those shoes, too!

  2. Oh, you justified it indeed! That's an incredible price for that pretty little number. Man, I'm so ready to get back into the swing of shopping along with blogging. I have so missed just dressing up and getting excited over clothes and stuff. It's amazing how buying things and taking some pictures can make you feel good about yourself. I suppose it's true that if you're having a bad day, dressing up can make it start off a lot better.

Hope you're having an amazing end to your week, my sweet Lily!

  3. Definitely worth the price! I feel the same too, I'm trying to empty out my boxes of stored clothes right now, and it's so hard to let them go!

  5. Wow! This is one of my favorite looks. The colors look amazing you on, Lily! I can't believe it was only 5 dollars... that's definitely too good of a deal to pass up. Plus I am loving your hat! I was thinking I was due for another hat purchase. Although I totally agree that I have way too many clothes for college but I'm a little addicted to clothes to stop :P Anyway, I totally owe you an email! Can't wait to hear about your summer plans and everything!

  7. Hehe, aw man, for that price, totally worth it! Can't wait to see this floral one too :D
And gaaahhh, tell me about it! I'm thinking about writing a post about that actually, because when I packed up to move back home I was appalled by how much crap I'd taken with me that hadn't been used...sigh. Gonna go much smoother next time though (hopefully)!

  8. Thanks, May! The quality of the dress is great for the price--it's a lightweight, chiffon-type material, so I just made sure nothing was fraying. Hopefully it holds up! I've heard good things about AliBaba, but I haven't heard of TaoBao. I was lucky because I got to buy while I was actually in China--if you go online, I definitely encourage you to research reviews because sometimes sites turn out dicey in terms of size and customer service!

  9. I am not sure if I would go with brogues with a maxi dress (I don't hate these shoes with this dress), but I do adore the maxi dress and the hat. I think you're charming here. Lily loveliness.
