Review: Beauty Box Five

This post is sponsored by Beauty Box Five, but all opinions are my own.
Packages in the mail will always hold a special place in my heart (especially in the season of college decisions), and I was ecstatic to return home this mint beauty from Beauty Box Five a few days ago.

If you haven't heard of Beauty Box Five, it's a subscription program that sends you quality beauty samples each month, free shipping and all. If you'd like to test it out for yourself, a monthly subscription (one box) runs $12, a quarterly subscription (three boxes total) is $30, and a yearly one (twelve boxes total) is $99. There are also gift orders, so they're the perfect solution for your beauty guru friend.

The boxes feature a theme, and mine was "That Awkward Moment"--three words that uncannily embody this girl's life.

The first item I unpacked were these vividly-colored exfoliating gloves. I'm all about using exfoliants (though judiciously), so I was curious to see how these worked. I found that using these felt a little like using sandpaper--though definitely much finer and invigorating. These may be replacing my beloved loofahs in the near future.
And luckily for me, the box came with body wash that I could use with my exfoliating gloves. This H2O Sea Lotus body wash smelled super fresh--it reminded me a little of the Fresh Rain scent from Bath and Body Works. I'm also loving the miniature size because that means it'll be super convenient to grab and pack for any upcoming spring trips.
Seeing Jergens was a pleasant surprise since I tried a similar sample a few years ago and it quickly became a favorite. The dainty, clean scent and ligthweight moisture get a check and it's also super handy to take on trips.
I've heard of Nubar before, so I can't wait to try this base coat. I like that it doesn't contain the usual synthetics and doesn't have that strong chemical scent like other nail polish. The green tint is also pretty and the little bottle is too cute.
I was looking for another chapstick to keep in my bag, so this was a serendipitous addition. The coconut scent reminds me of sunny beaches and tropical weather and I like how the chapstick delicately balances between waxy and smooth.
And finally, this quirky mirror is just right for midday touchups (or awkward moment interventions to check flyaways or your teeth after a meal).
These boxes are super cute, and just about every item is useful to any girl. Beauty Box Five even was a finalist in the 2013 SheKnows Awards under Subscription Service, and I can definitely see why. Take a gander for yourself!

  1. mmm all those foreign beauty boxes are SO cool and we have ZERO here in Estonia. zero beauty boxes... I love what you got from yours and would definitely try this box myself because really, everything you got is necessary and pretty much everyday pieces. and you have this surprise moment that's always a nice bonus! so Lily, I totally loved that post and hope that you will post about more boxes in the future :)
